What we collect on this website, why, and how to say no.

Who we are

This website is operated by Godwit Data, registered in England & Wales. For anything in this notice, or to exercise any of the rights below, contact info@godwit.uk.

What we collect

This is a brochure site. There are no accounts, no forms, and no logins — the only way to contact us is by email, which you send from your own mail client. We collect personal data in two circumstances:

Cookies

No cookies are set when you arrive. We ask first, and if you decline, none are set and no analytics tag is loaded at all.

If you accept, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and roughly where visitors come from. We use it in a restricted configuration: analytics only, with Google Consent Mode signalling that advertising storage, ad personalisation and ad user data are all denied. We do not run advertising on this site and we do not use analytics data to target anyone.

Changing your mind. To withdraw or grant consent, clear this site’s data in your browser (Settings → Privacy → cookies and site data) and the choice will be offered again on your next visit. You can also block cookies for this site entirely, or use Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

Sharing and transfers

We do not sell personal data or share it for marketing. If you accept analytics, Google acts as our processor and may process data outside the UK; Google relies on the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses for those transfers. Our website is hosted on GitHub Pages, which processes request logs (including IP addresses) as part of serving the site.

How long we keep it

Email correspondence: for as long as needed for the enquiry or engagement, and then in line with our normal business-records retention. Analytics data: retained by Google for 14 months from your last visit.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to data portability. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting anything done beforehand. Email info@godwit.uk and we will respond within one month.

If you think we have handled your data badly, please tell us first — but you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes

Last updated 3 August 2026. If we change what we collect, we will update this page and, where the change is material, ask for consent again.
